<Now accepting applications> Patrick Zygmanowski / Professor at the Conservatoire de Aix-en-Provence, France & Visiting Professor at Osaka College of Music / Piano and chamber music open lessons (in person)

Professor at the Aix-en-Provence Conservatory, who combines delicacy and strength. / Piano & Chamber Music Open Lesson (Face-to-Face) Wednesday, July 2025, 7 Limited to 9 people

Patrick, who inherited the sophisticated French flair and learned the German playing philosophy, is a teacher with a unique style.

Patrick Zygmanowski is a pianist who has been praised by critics from leading music magazines such as Diapason, Mondo, and Classica for his "elegant and majestic playing." His piano, which effortlessly balances the two polar opposites of elegance and majesty, shines as a unique individual in the modern classical music world. There is a secret behind his unique playing style. It is that he was taught by top pianists who inherited the musical traditions of France and Germany. At the Conservatoire de Paris, the most prestigious school in France, he studied under Jean Hubeau, a virtuoso French pianist of the 20th century, and Jacques Rouvier, known for his noble sense and esprit. He then studied at the German National University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, where he studied under Gerhard Opitz, a direct disciple of the maestro Wilhelm Kempff. In this way, Patrick has mastered both the delicate French style and the powerful German style. He won the Paris International Chamber Music Competition, the FUNAPEC International Competition, and the Henrizoge International Competition, and is currently active internationally, producing CDs such as the complete works of Ravel, concerts, and music festivals. He has served as professor at the Conservatoire de Montpellier, assistant professor at the Conservatoire de Lyon, and professor at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, and is currently professor at the Conservatoire de Aix-en-Provence.

If you haven't taken lessons yet, you can listen to them. There is so much you can learn by not only playing for yourself, but also watching other people's lessons. In fact, many students in Europe study through listening. It is also an opportunity to listen to the performances of many other people, and through the lessons of various people, you will be able to better understand the teaching method and personality of the teacher. Musical instruments other than the piano can also enjoy the atmosphere of overseas classes, so please feel free to join us. The teaching method of overseas professors is completely different from that of Japan. In particular, the main focus is to "enjoy and express music more", so the points to teach vary from student to student. Isn't it a big point for those who are aiming to study abroad or become a professional in the future to feel how the points of teaching are different from those in Japan? Even if you are not satisfied with Japan, it will be an opportunity to think about studying abroad.

If you are thinking of studying in France or other countries in Europe, you can try studying abroad while you are in Japan. Consider the possibility of studying abroad in Europe.

It's a great chance to meet an overseas teacher while you are in Japan!
Just thinking does not open the door to your dreams. There is only action. Don't miss this opportunity!

■ Excerpts from the comments of participants and listeners ■

■ Lesson students (Mr. FO)
It was a lot of fun.It was a great learning experience for me to carefully teach me what is important and what I cannot do now.I think that the songs you saw today require a sense and skill of various elements to express nuances and facial expressions, but it was very good that you could teach them in an easy-to-understand manner.thank you!

■ Lesson auditor (Ms. S)
This was my first time to attend an open lesson, so I just listened to see what it was like, and it was really good. I don't go to a music college, so I don't have many opportunities to listen to so many different people's performances, so I'm very excited to be able to listen to the teacher's performance again. I would like to take an open lesson in Japan first. If there is another opportunity to hold a lesson by Professor Zygmanovsky, please let me know. I would like to be able to study abroad and learn French. Today, I have decided that I want to work even harder on the piano.

■ Lesson auditor (A ・ M)
It was my first time so I was nervous, but
The lessons were fun and exciting, and I really learned!
The teacher's talk was very easy to understand, and I was surprised at many things.
There are many new discoveries such as stories about the background of the song.
After listening to the lecture, the points to be aware of when practicing by myself also changed.
If I have a chance, I would love to take a lesson too!I thought ♪
I went from Nagoya, and I'm really glad that I participated.
Thank you very much! !

■ Lesson students (Mr. SK)
Thank you for taking the lesson today, and it was a great learning experience for me to take the lessons carefully according to the stage. Many of the things I learned this time were very important notes that they can be applied not only to today's song but also to learning another song next time.I learned a lot and enjoyed the course.

■ Lesson students (Mr. TK)
It was a very fun lesson. The teacher was very friendly and humorous, so I was able to take the lesson without feeling nervous. The place had a salon-like atmosphere, so I was able to relax. Professor Zygmanovsky taught me in an easy-to-understand way using gestures. I think that not only those who are studying professionally, but also those who play the piano as a hobby can enjoy the lesson. It made me think again that technique is necessary to express what you think and feel, not to make your fingers move quickly. He not only taught me the image of the instrument, but also taught me in detail how to make the sound of that instrument (touch, how to use your arms, how to use your body). I would definitely like to take another lesson from Professor Zygmanovsky with a different song. Thank you very much.

■ Lesson students (Mr. I ・ T)
It was a fun lesson.I'm happy, but listening is fun and it makes me want to study more. Also, it will be helpful to attend the lecture from the standpoint of teaching. There were lots of hints on how to approach the students. The process of getting better and changing is wonderful.I'm surprised that you can change in one lesson.Thank you very much.

■ Lesson students (Y ・ Y)
The way to beat is bad from before, so I reconfirmed this time.I would like to practice considering the placement of my hands and the amount of force.

■ Lesson students (S ・ O)
I met the teacher in Cagliari last month, so it wasn't the first time we met, and I was able to relax. I included songs that I've only just started playing, so I think I was able to see how to practice and what I need to work on in the future.

■ Lesson auditor (Mr. A)
I'm very glad that I made the effort to participate today, even in the typhoon. I was able to understand the world that the professor is looking for in music, and it was very fruitful. I want to hear more from the professor. It was like I was studying at the Ecole Normale in France while in Japan. However, I think I would be able to understand more deeply what the professor was saying if I could see and experience more European culture. Thanks to Andvi John, I would like to have more opportunities to experience this kind of atmosphere while in Japan.

■ Lesson student (Mr. AH)
Following the teacher's advice, I decided to hone my sensibility in areas other than the piano and aim for a good sound! The teacher was friendly and frank, and even told me stories from his childhood, which I found very interesting. It was such a good lesson that I hope to attend another lesson with the teacher on a holiday someday. As always, I would like to thank AndVision and Patrick from the bottom of my heart.

■ Lesson auditor (M.M.)
The performances, lessons and stories were so wonderful and interesting that I was deeply moved.Thank you very much.

■ Lesson auditor (RA)
-I'm glad to hear about Scriabin's music.
-It was good to hear how to attack the tone.

■ Lesson students (M.K.)
I learned a lot from everything. I was able to feel the culture that Professor Zygmanovsky grew up in, and I had the feeling that I was in France. I would love to come again.

■ Lesson student (NI)
The touch and approach to sound were very easy to understand and very helpful! The teacher's changes in tone were amazing, I learned a lot, and I'm really glad I participated in the lesson.

■ Lesson students (I.FI)
I had a French teacher listen to some French music, so it was really interesting to get a fresh perspective on the French sensibility.
My teacher, who was listening to my performance for the first time, pointed out my fundamental habits and the bad points in my playing style, and I was able to recognize them properly again. There was nothing bad about it! Only good things.

■ Lesson student (Mr. AH)
I received a lot of great advice, but first of all, he carefully taught me how to play non-legato and how to use it. When to use it? I realized that I actually didn't know what "non-legato" was until now!!! I started to see the clue to the solution. I also remembered other things to be careful of, such as not to crush the back of my hand when playing octaves, and when I tried it, it was like a caterpillar growing wings and suddenly evolving into a butterfly. Just watching the teacher play was very helpful. It was a wonderful time. Thank you so much! I look forward to seeing you again!

■ Lesson student (KO)
Mr. Patrick's lesson was very informative and wonderful.
This was my first time taking lessons from a foreign teacher, so I was extremely nervous.
I took the lesson, but when I actually met the teacher, he welcomed me warmly and I was able to relax right away.
Patrick's lessons were so unique and enjoyable that I wanted to take the next lesson as soon as possible.
He looked at me from the fine fingering, and I was really noticed by the way of touching, how to relax, and the teaching method that was particular about the tone.
There were many things. For example, he played various other songs as examples, and taught me in a very easy-to-understand manner.
By taking this lesson, I can make new discoveries within myself and think about when I start playing new songs.
I feel that my care has changed.I'm really thankful to you.

■ Lesson student (RS)
I am very glad that you taught me how to practice in detail, the position of my arms, and how to move my fingers.

■ Lesson student (KK)
It was a great lesson, I learned a lot and it was a lot of fun.French-like, so that you can transform yourself
I want to further improve what I have learned.I would love to take it again, thank you.

■ Lesson student (RY)
I took lessons and learned a lot from the wonderful lessons.I definitely wanted to take it again

■ Lesson student (HN)
After watching the three songs, I learned how to weaken and how to make a tone that suits the songs.
When practicing alone, I realized that there were many overlooked parts such as rests, slurs, and strengths.
The interpreter also spoke in an easy-to-understand manner, which was helpful.

■ Lesson student (TH)
The staff, the interpreters, and above all Professor Zygmanovsky were all wonderful and it was a truly valuable experience.
It was hard for the studio to be a little confusing, but everything else was really great.
Thank you very much.If I have such an opportunity, I would definitely like to take it.

■ Lesson student (MM)
There were many things I had overlooked. I was very nervous, but the teacher gave me a lot of examples to use during the lesson.
It was easy to understand because he gave me

■ Lesson student (RM)
I was able to take the course less nervously than last time.I was worried because I wasn't feeling well, but when I touched the piano
I feel a little more energetic.I wanted to be careful not to fill in the fingering and not to play different sounds with my assumptions.
Thank you all!

■ Lesson auditor (NM)
I learned a lot about how to interpret songs, techniques, practice methods, etc. in an accurate and easy-to-understand manner.
I felt that the levels of the students varied considerably.
There are times when I can't listen to it all day long, so I'm a little disappointed if there are people who aren't satisfied with the content.

■ Lesson auditor (MM)
It was very helpful.Especially the composition, how to make changes, tone color, etc.I am always grateful for your help.

■ Lesson student (MO)
This was my first time taking piano lessons with Patrick Zygmanowski.
It helped me to teach me the basics, including how to hold and shape my hands, and how to practice normally from now on.
I am very grateful that you taught me in a very easy-to-understand manner and that the interpreter helped me.

■ Lesson student (MY)
I had a teacher other than my usual teacher look at my work, so he pointed out some parts that I don't usually pay attention to,
I learned a lot.I speak a little Japanese, so I wasn't too nervous and I was able to relax.
