Music theory lessons from instructors approved by the Paris Conservatoire

A shortcut to your dream of studying music in France. Learn from a leading expert who graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris in just 60 minutes of special music theory lessons.
If you want to gain a deeper understanding of French music or if you want to succeed in your study abroad experience, we have a special learning opportunity for you. We will provide you with a one-time trial version of AIMS' music theory lessons.
In just 60 minutes, you can experience the essence of French music. This special lesson will be held at the And Vision International Music School (AIMS) in Ochanomizu, Tokyo, where you can experience authentic theoretical instruction cultivated in the field of music education in France.
The instructor is Ms. Yasuko Kanai, who is active at the forefront of the French music world. She went to Paris as a French government scholarship student and graduated from the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. At the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, she passed the exemption exam for the solfege class, which is known to be difficult, and completed the analysis (music analysis) class in just one year.
After teaching as a flute instructor at the Epernay Conservatory in France, she served as the exclusive interpreter for Emmanuel Pahud, principal flute of the Berlin Philharmonic, for 36 years, and has also devoted herself to mentoring promising young musicians, including flautist Kokomi Kimura as her student. Her activities are diverse, including translating "The Secrets of Flute Playing" and releasing CDs of French music.
What are the characteristics of music education in France?
In fact, in music education in France, theoretical understanding is emphasized over performance technique. At the Paris Conservatoire, analysis classes are a compulsory subject. The theoretical basis for "why that note is chosen" supports delicate musical expression.
This lesson condenses the essence of a regular music theory lesson into one session. You can practically learn French-specific note names and technical terms that can be confusing even for those who are accustomed to Italian or German. The world of French is very different from Japanese, even in the pronunciation of composers' names, such as "Bach" → "Bach" and "Khachaturian" → "Kachaturian." With instruction based on Mr. Kanai's extensive experience, you can learn the differences while having fun.
Lessons are available in either French or Japanese. This is a great opportunity for those who just want to see what it's like. Don't miss this opportunity to experience our authentic music theory lessons, which are different from other music schools.
In addition, we are available to answer questions and provide advice on studying abroad even after lessons. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions such as "I would like to know more about long-term music study abroad" or "I would like to consult about short-term music study abroad programs."
The first step to a successful music study abroad in France is to understand the local music education in both theory and practice. Why not open a new door to music for yourself with this special music theory lesson?
